STATE BOARD CHAIR AND COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION ADDRESS NHSBA BOARD

Summary:
Today, State Board of Education Chairman David Ruedig, and new Department of Education Commissioner Lyonel Tracy, addressed the NHSBA Board of Directors on major new educational issues in our State. Chairman Ruedig stated that he strongly supports the work of the New Hampshire School Boards Association, and looks forward to working with the Association in a collarborative fashion on major initiatives such as the minimum standards revision process and early childhood education. He invited the Association to take a leading role in advancing "best practices" that many of locally elected school boards employ on a day to day basis. Commissioner Tracy identified several of his new initiatives, including a focus on child centered education. He will be advancing this new idea around the State, and stated the he looked forward to continuing a good working relationship with NHSBA Executive Director Ted Comstock, and the NHSBA Officers and Board of Directors, as well as locally elected school boards throughout the State.
